Create a Self-extracting Archive
How to Create a Self-extracting Archive?
How to save space on your hard disk by a
self-extracting archive?
While there is the emergence
of a young blogger he has a lot to learn and, as a result, the hard drive is
starting to resemble the trash, which have thrown haphazardly huge number of
files: and throw a pity, but newly arriving need to somehow attach.
In today's lesson, heading for
the super computer Kettle we will learn to create a self-extracting archive,
which will bring together a large number of files into one archive and thus
save space on your hard drive.
The beauty of this archive is
also in the fact that it can be unpacked on another computer without the use of
whatever additional applications.
Suppose you are an avid angler
amateur and you have a lot of electronic literature Fisheries, scattered all
over the hard disk.
Let's try to put things in
order here and create a virtual library archive.
Click on the keyboard and hold it, click on the R
In the window that appears, enter
express
We click OK and Next
Activate the radio button
Extract files only
Again we click next and enter
a name for the new archive file, for example, Archive Rivolov
Again Next.
Now we have to give the
program instructions about what will happen after clicking on the finished
archive either be prompted to specify the path to the file, or first ask
whether it is necessary to unpack the archive.
If you do not want the program
to ask stupid questions, just go to the next step, which we do. We click Next
and add, then hold down the Ctrl, click on the files that need to be packed in
an archive, and then on the button Open.
Since I'm not an amateur
angler, but rather an amateur cook, I archive all the files in one way or
another connected with the cooking, as you can see on the screen.
Similarly, you can add files
from other folders as needed.
Set the path where to store
fishing (my cooking) files and move on to the next step.
If you want to unpack the
archive after the error message successfully extract the files from the
archive, then activate the radio button Display message and enter your message
text type: Mission accomplished, ma'am
(Sir)!
Click on the button Browse and
enter a file name for the created archive documents Rivolov (VS same for the
fisherman create the archive!), well, I write documents Kulinar and follower we
click Save and Next.
Activate the radio button don’t
save, Next and complete the process of activating done.
To unpack the archive is
enough to click on it Ribolov Documents (in my case documents Cook
In the window that appears
inscribe the name of the folder in which to be saved recoverable files, we
click OK, and voila - you are told that
the job honorably fulfilled!
A casket something just
opened!
But there is a caveat, to be
mentioned.
If you want to send this file
to a friend, you may encounter some difficulties, namely:
Since the self-extracting
archive is an exe. file, most e-mail programs will try to block it, seeing it as
a threat.
In this case, the recipient
was able to receive from you the file, change its extension, which hold key on
your keyboard
Press key E and then click on the button service, from
the menu select Folder Options
And in the window that
appears, go to the tab view
Now we have to remove the
check mark in the check box Hide extensions for known file types:
OK, click on the file
And press F2 and change the file extension to Ribolov.txt
documents, press the keyboard key with an arrow showing the left and click Yes.
Now the file can be safely
sent by e-mail.
Pay attention!
To unpack the archive recipient
must enter the initial file extension exe.
I believe that after such a detailed
"debriefing" to create an archive will not be difficult even with the
upper Dummies!
Now our anglers all fisheries
instruments are in good order, and hard disk space available for new and
interesting revenues.
